The Ridderzaal has stood in this courtyard since the thirteenth century and the States General has met around it since the sixteenth, which makes this the oldest working parliament building in use anywhere. Right now that is a claim about the outside: the whole complex is under a long renovation and parliament has moved out, so tours of the interior are not running. The view across the Hofvijver from the Lange Vijverberg is the picture everyone takes and costs nothing.
