Named for the black tulip that breeders have never actually achieved, the museum covers the trade rather than the bloom: the seventeenth-century speculation, the export business that grew out of it, and the bulb-growing craft still practised in the fields around the town. It is modest and it is indoor, which makes it the listing that survives a wet week or a November visit when the show garden is closed and the fields are bare.
