Finished in 1675 and never wired for electric light, so the brass chandeliers still carry real candles. The sand on the floor, the wooden benches and the Ets Haim library alongside make this a short visit with a long afterimage. Closed on Saturdays for Shabbat, which catches out weekend itineraries built around the Jewish Quarter.
