A restored artillery fort on the Sint-Pietersberg, entered on a guided tour of about an hour, with the marl caves beneath it.
The fort was built to hold the high ground that had made every previous siege of Maastricht possible, and the restoration is honest enough that the casemates still feel like somewhere you would not want to be shelled. Tours run in Dutch and English and cover the gun platforms, the powder magazines and the view down the Jeker valley. The cave system underneath is a separate ticket and a separate experience; the fort is the daylight half.
